Museum Network: Ecomuseo del Lago d'Orta e Mottarone
A collection of memories, new and old, of the Gravellona people.
In the central area of Gravellona Toce, in the rooms of the former municipal kindergarten, the "Felice Pattaroni" Cultural Archaeological Association has set up a research and documentation centre for the archaeological excavations carried out by Felice Pattaroni between 1954 and 1959, which brought to light the Gallo-Roman necropolis of Pedemonte (5th century B.C. - 5th century A.D.) and part of the ancient settlement.
It also includes:
- Natural history showcases (minerals, fossils, flora, and local fauna specimens) specially designed for educational purposes.
- Ancient work tools.
- Hemp, wool, needlework, spinning and carding tools, antique sewing machines.
- Photographic documentation of the two cotton mills (Guidotti & Pariani and Furter) operating in Gravellona from the 19th century to the 1960s.
- A small library of historical texts for immediate consultation.
Talks held for schools, themed lectures, and screenings. All are free of charge.
Open by reservation only - not accessible to persons with reduced mobility.
