Buttons that tell a 400-year story
The museum houses a collection of weapon, friezes and uniforms from the 17th century onwards, selected from what was still in the possession of the Traditional Militia of Calasca, founded in 1641. Over the centuries, the corps' furnishings have been enriched with numerous objects, military clothing, and weapons that are not part of the standard equipment, often coming from other corps and extra-national armies, sometimes remarkable examples of textile craftsmanship. The museum's collection, with an innovative layout that contrasts with its surroundings and curated for the historical part by a well-known scholar from Novara, presents unique and precious pieces of Italian military history. In addition to the room dedicated to the exhibition, a second room tells the story of the origins and historical events of the Militia through rich photographic and archival documentation.
