Alpine civilisation between history and multimedia
The UniversiCà Museum Centre, located in the east wing of the Mountain Colony in Druogno, is one of the largest collections dedicated to the Alpine civilisation in Northern Piedmont. Extending over an area of 2,500 square metres, it offers two itineraries: the "Living Museum," which tells the story of the characters, people, trades, and traditions of the Vigezzo Valley through reconstructed environments, large scenic paintings, multimedia contents and effects, blow-ups, and traditional objects. Visitors take part in a theatrical tour guided by the voice of the late Benito Mazzi, a famous writer and Strega Prize finalist. The second itinerary, "Geo d'Etica," is dedicated to geography and the cartographer's profession. It was created in collaboration with the prestigious historical archive of Istituto Geografico De Agostini of Novara. Lithography stones, work tools, and multimedia experiences show how maps were created and spread worldwide. Temporary exhibitions and cultural events are also organised.
