Lagoni di Mercurago Natural Park
A treasure chest of natural and archaeological jewels
This wooded area, which includes the peat bogs of Mercurago, preserved intact over time some of the areas that have always been used for pasture for horse breeding. The site is also a key prehistoric and archaeological settlement – dating back to the Bronze Age – where domus romanae were found. The Park can be visited thanks to several thematic paths marked to allow visitors to admire the many aspects of nature (such as forests and wetlands) or the works carried out by humans. Finally, the presence of animals that live protected in the Park is varied. You can also meet different species of migratory birds, attracted by the presence of ponds and peat bogs. Finally, a particular mushroom species was found in this area of the Park: the crepidotus roseoornatus, the only specimen present in the world.
