Toce Waterfall
The most beautiful and powerful waterfall in the Alps.
The imposing Toce waterfall with a 143-metre drop is the symbol of the Formazza Valley. It offers visitors a unique scenery, set at an altitude of 1,657 m in the mountains of the upper Formazza Valley and surrounded by pastures, rocks and coniferous forests. The dam and Lake Morasco, above the waterfall, provide a spectacular backdrop for interesting hikes to the Swiss border (Passo di San Giacomo and Passo del Gries) or quiet stops for a picnic.
The Toce Waterfall is only visible in its majesty for short periods during the year, as its waters are collected in the Morasco reservoir and, through a penstock tunnel, reach the Enel power station in Ponte to be used in the production of electricity.
