THE COURSE
As part of the Interreg BICIPELOACQUA Project, the Local Tourist Agency Distretto Turistico dei Laghi promotes a training course on a digital platform dedicated to the most topical theme of cycling tourism. The course takes place over three days, 23, 25 and 30 November 2021.
The word is given to bike experts able to frame the subject foreseeing the future scenarios, with a view to revitalizing the tourism economy, and giving practical information to accommodation facilities and operators eager to invest in slow tourism and bike-friendly reception. The Italian speakers and the Swiss speakers are: FIAB Italian Federation of Environment and Bicycle, ETIFOR Valuing Nature Spin-off of the University of Padua, R&D Cycling and High School of Tourism Management HES-SO Valais-Wallis. The course is adressed to bike and tourism operators of the Provinces of Novara and VCO and the Canton of Valais (CH).
The course, with free participation, is organized by our ATL with the technical support of En.A.I.P. Piemonte.
THE PROJECT
The project unites Italy and Switzerland through an itinerary of about 200 km, all on two wheels, in a transnational territory that has water as its main theme.
From the Rhone that flows in the Valais, up to the Toce in the Verbano Cusio Ossola, the Orta Lake then in the Ticino Valley and finally among the rice fields of the Lower Novarese furrowed by irrigation canals. A journey without borders that runs along lakes, rivers, streams and immerses itself in the liquid soul of the Novara area.
The challenge is to increase the attractiveness of the entire area, with the aim of enhancing the existing cycle routes and implement shared and innovative interventions for the territory.
Funded by the Italian-Swiss Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2014-2020, the three-year project started in 2019 sees, on the Italian side, the Distretto Turistico dei Laghi partner and the ATL of the Province of Novara as leader. The leader for the Swiss side is HES-SO Valais-Wallis.
