Esther Hoppe - violino
Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750)
Partita No.3 in mi maggiore BWV 1006
Sonata No. 1 sol minore BWV 1001
Partita No. 2 re minore BWV 1004
The closure of this XXIII Edition is entrusted to the Swiss violinist Esther Hoppe.
Acclaimed by the press for her beautiful sound, her exceptional stylistic mastery and her virtuosic yet sensitive interpretations, in which her astonishing technique is at the service of the purest music-making.
With her violin of 1722, the "De Ahna" by Antonio Stradivari, she will let us listen to 3 works (2 Partitas and 1 Sonata) from the admirable opus for solo violin by Johann Sebastian Bach, whose autograph dates back to 1720.
The art of performing Bach's Sonatas and Partitas is not only based on violinistic qualities that can be traced back to perfect intonation and technique.
Bach has in fact attempted in this masterful opus a sort of "violinistic squaring of the circle", managing to create a linear polyphony on an instrument that is monodic by nature.
This magnificent program, entrusted to the expertise of our artist, will resound in the place that perhaps best suits Bach's music, once again the Basilica on the island of San Giulio.
