THE VILLAGE
The municipality of Trarego Viggiona is just 10 minutes from the picturesque Cannero Riviera. Nestled in a pristine and untouched natural setting, it boasts a delightful sunny position and a fresh, healthy climate throughout the year. In 2024, the Italian Touring Club awarded it the 'orange flag’. Although they are very small villages, Trarego Cheglio and Viggiona offer plenty of opportunities to have fun and spend pleasant days in the open air, trekking, mountain biking or riding a magnificent horse. There are many paths, of all difficulty levels, throughout the area, allowing you to discover many small artistic gems and lush nature with an extraordinary view of Lake Maggiore.
The various associations organise many events in all seasons: from the Art Trail in Easter to Viggiona by Night in July, Christmas celebrations, various summer concerts at Pianaccio and cultural evenings... Many proposals for all tastes and unique places for children, starting from the Wonderwood Park on Monte Carza where you can also reach the first Big Bench of Lake Maggiore, chosen as one of the 10 Big Benches with the best view in the world.
The Tourist Office is available to support tourists in planning their stay in the area, and it is also possible to pick up free walking maps and brochures of events in the magnificent Upper Lake Maggiore area.
TYPICAL FOOD AND WINE
On Lakes Maggiore and Orta, the protagonist is freshwater fish. Trout, perch and whitefish, pike, char, gardon and arborella. In addition, honeys of different varieties are produced. Notable is the production of citrus fruits: in particular lemons, but also oranges, citrons and grapefruits. Cakes, biscuits, tea, liqueurs and jams are made from these fruits.

LOCAL HANDICRAFTS
In the village of Viggiona, there is the "Distilleria Viggiona" with an extraordinary production of typical local grappas that recall many historical passages. In the hamlets of Cheglio and Trarego, there are dozens of artists who, on the occasion of the Art Trail, but not only, open the doors of their homes for the sale of an extraordinary artistic production encompassing painting, sculpture and photography.
