DESCRIPTION
A route of great naturalistic interest within the Special Nature Reserve of the Fondotoce Reed beds, established in 1990, in the coastal reed bed area of the Borromeo Gulf and the Toce River. The path follows the River Toce in a thick riparian wood with white willow, black and white alders, poplars and elms. You reach a small beach from which you can admire the Borromeo Gulf and the islands of Lake Maggiore.
Through the cycle paths, going along the reed thicket and the final stretch of the Fondotoce canal, which connects Lake Mergozzo with Lake Maggiore, we finally reach one of the most evocative observation points of the cane thicket.
ACCESSIBILITY DESCRIPTION
The path is made of well-maintained gravel. Presence of some stones or brushwood. There are no particular slopes. The most difficult section is the part, towards the Isolino campsite, to access the small beach, where the path can be marshy/sandy. The small bridge at the start has a significant incline, which can be overcome with an accompanying person. To access the small beach, where the path may be marshy/sandy, you must be accompanied by an experienced guide.
The trail is suitable for: people with pushchairs or using manual, powered wheelchairs.
